Does Walmart Have Drivable Carts? What to Know

Yes, many Walmart stores have motorized shopping carts that you can drive through the store while shopping. Availability can vary by location and by how many carts are already in use, so you should not count on finding one every time you visit. These carts are intended to help shoppers who have difficulty walking or standing for a full shopping trip.

When you arrive, look near the store entrance or ask an associate where the motorized carts are kept. If you need a cart for a particular trip, call that Walmart location beforehand to ask whether it has one and where you should go to pick it up. An associate can also help you find out what to do if the carts are in use or one needs charging.

A motorized cart is different from a regular shopping cart: you sit on it and operate its controls, so take a moment to get comfortable with starting, stopping, and turning before entering a busy aisle. Drive at a cautious pace, leave room around other shoppers and displays, and follow any instructions posted on the cart. If getting on or off the seat is difficult, ask for assistance rather than trying to manage an unsafe transfer alone.

Check the product’s listed specifications when evaluating what should you know before driving.
