Walmart Motorized Shopping Carts: What to Know

Yes, many Walmart stores offer motorized shopping carts, often called electric mobility carts, for customers who need help getting around the store. Availability can vary by location and by how many carts are already in use, so we recommend calling your Walmart before you go if a cart is important to your shopping trip.

When you arrive, look near the store entrance or ask an associate where the mobility carts are kept. If you do not see one, an associate may be able to tell you whether a cart is available or help you plan another way to shop.

Going at a less busy time may improve your chances of finding a cart, but it will not guarantee one. If you need dependable assistance throughout your visit, consider bringing someone who can help you shop or contacting the store ahead of time to ask about your options.

Take a moment to get comfortable with the cart’s controls before moving into a busy aisle, and drive slowly around corners, displays, and other shoppers. Keep bags and purchases within the cart’s intended storage areas rather than hanging them where they could interfere with steering.

A motorized shopping cart is designed for moving through the store, not as a substitute for your personal mobility device outside your visit. If you are unsure where to leave it when you finish, ask an associate rather than leaving it where it could block an entrance or walkway.

A short list organized by department can help you spend less time navigating back and forth, especially when the store is crowded. You can also plan meals before you leave so you know which groceries matter most to your budget.
